Ural Owls

The Ural Owl is a large, highly territorial owl known for its rounded head, dark eyes, and long, softly barred tail. Found across northern and central Eurasia, it belongs to the owl family Strigidae and is closely associated with mature forests and quiet woodland habitats. Its calm, watchful appearance and deep, resonant calls give it a distinctive presence among forest birds.

Primarily active at night, Ural Owls hunt small mammals and birds, using exceptionally well-developed hearing to locate prey—even detecting rodents moving beneath deep snow. Their large ear openings and precise hearing make them highly effective hunters in cold, forested environments.
