Golden Eagles

Golden Eagles are among the most powerful and wide-ranging raptors in the Northern Hemisphere, found across North America, Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa. As the most widely distributed eagle species in the world, they have long held cultural significance and serve as national symbols for several countries, including Germany, Austria, Mexico, Albania, and Kazakhstan.

Golden Eagles inhabit mountains, open plains, and rugged coastlines where vast landscapes provide ideal hunting grounds. Built for strength and speed, they rely on keen eyesight and formidable talons to hunt mammals such as hares, ground squirrels, and marmots, though they will also take birds and carrion when available. Unlike many fish-eating raptors that were heavily affected by DDT, Golden Eagles were less impacted because their mammalian prey did not accumulate the toxin to the same degree.
