How to wash your throw

You can wash your throw in the washing machine. Avoid high temperatures from either hot water or tumble drying. Cotton is sensitive to high heat, and may cause the throw to shrink. Machine wash with cold or lukewarm water and mild detergent. Tumble dry on low.

Packing

Woven tapestry throws ship in white or dark gray poly mailer bags. Larger orders will ship in cardboard boxes.

The Piece

We’ve all looked into the skies to see the closely co-ordinated maneuvers of a flock of birds flying overhead. The beauty and synchronicity of this phenomenon inspired the design of our Geometric Flock woven tapestry throw.

About Birds

One of nature’s most mesmerizing displays of birds flying in formation is called a murmuration. This is not your average flock flying by. A murmuration is a large group of birds, usually starlings, flying together as one huge mass in a whirling, shape-shifting pattern. European Starlings in particular can gather in massive flocks, sometimes upwards of 100,000 birds, all moving in unison with highly complex and unique flying patterns.

Many types of birds like geese, pelicans, ducks, and other migratory birds, fly in flocks or formalized V-formations to assist in navigation, to save energy, and for safety. Birds possess a sensory system allowing them to accurately detect the position and movement of birds around them. This enables the whole flock to move in a co-ordinated way, and crashes with neighbors can be avoided.

This throw is made of premium natural cotton yarn, delivering a richly textured but lightweight finish. It is odour and stain resistant, hard-wearing, and hypoallergenic.

Jacquard loom technology

With all our tapestry throws the design is woven into the fabric, rather than printed on top of it. The combination of yarns used to produce the design can be seen in the fringed edge around the outside of the throw.
